A Per Airline Preview of Luggage Rates for One Suitcase
Have you ever traveled somewhere and realized the things you want to bring do not all fit in your luggage? Now, most airlines travel a hefty surcharge for each suitcase you bring. They have all become very strict about the weight of the bag, as well. If your suitcase weighs over 50 lbs. it can cost $25-$75 or more in extra fees. Many airlines also limit you to one carry-on bag and it must be small enough to fit in the overhead bin or under your seat, but then you will be limited in leg room.
Here is a list of current luggage rates for your first checked bag. Check with the airline prior to your travel date, as many airlines do increase the cost for a second suitcase or for going over the weight limit.

First of all, let us give a big round of applause for JetBlue and Southwest Airlines! Perhaps it is no coincidence that both JetBlue and Southwest consistently score the highest among the airlines for customer satisfaction, according to ASCI ratings.
On that note, it may be inevitable that you will have to travel on another airline sometimes, maybe either due to availability or these two airlines not being available in your city. Most of us in the Mandeville or New Orleans area will have to settle for United, as there are very few other choices available.
